Project Brief:
The project’s primary goal is to address the growing demands of an expanding retail network that will double the new Distribution Center (DC) be capable of serving over 600 stores(Store count was projected to double in 4 years). The original DC was designed to cater to 200 stores, necessitating an upgrade due to business growth. To address labor challenges in a tight labor market, the project aims to implement automation technologies, reducing the dependency on manual labor and enhancing operational efficiency. The optimization of inventory management and improvement of margins through lower total distribution costs are also a key objectives.
Project Deliverables:
The project will deliver a newly constructed facility spanning 653,000 square feet. To facilitate efficient operations, a state-of-the-art Warehouse Management System (WMS) will be installed, providing flexibility and scalability to adapt to changing demands. The implementation of a Tilt Tray Sorter equipped with 608 chutes will enable the discreet grouping of carton items for packing in-store containers. Additionally, the project includes the installation of more than 6 miles of conveyor systems and a High-Speed Shipping Sorter, which doubles as a routing sorter for Tilt Tray Zone induction, resulting in substantial cost savings.
